Keila and James

Keila joined the ministry in March 2019 for a one year internship but has been part of our full time staff since 2020. She is bilingual and lived in South Carolina for a portion of her childhood before her family landed in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico where her father is a pastor. Keila has a degree in Social Work from UANL, and has plugged in at the deaf school in a critical support role regarding relationships, communication, and spiritual and practical life issues. She leads a Daily Life and Values workshop with all of students at the Deaf Institute.

She is fluent in Mexican Sign Language and feels very called to participate with the deaf community in Reynosa. As part of that calling, she leads deaf outreach with deaf youth (older than 14 years old). In addition to her role at the Institute, Keila joins the team at the community center three afternoons a week to organize and help with art projects, games, tutoring, Bible lessons, and prayer for our hearing neighborhood youth. Keila is married to James since September 2022. James is a computer programmer that works from home.

They met through a college ministry and were friends for a long time before dating. They feel called to serve the Lord here in Reynosa in their own areas of work.
